Nominations sought for Sparta High School Wall of Fame

Nominations are being accepted for the Sparta High School Wall of Fame. Nominations should be submitted to Sparta High School Activities Director Bob Sanders by Aug. 24 to be considered for induction in 2012.

The induction will be Friday, Sept. 28,  during the Homecoming Football Game where Sparta will host La Crosse Central High School. Nomination forms are available at the high school. A sheet of paper that includes the nominated individual, the person making the nomination and the accomplishments of that individual is also acceptable.  

Individuals previously nominated for the award will be considered again this year so new nominations need not be submitted for them. However, supplemental information is always welcome because information on some of the athletes, particularly older ones, is often scarce.

Criteria for entry into the Wall of Fame include:

1. The athlete must be a graduate of Sparta High School.
2. The individual may be eligible if he/she was an individual state champion or place winner in an individual sport.
3. The individual could be eligible if he/she received recognition as all-state, or all-state honorable mention in his/her sport.
4. The individual could be eligible if he/she was a multiple sport all-conference selection.
5. The individual could be eligible if he/she was multiple letter winner.
6. The individual must be out of high school for at least five years.
7. Consideration is not only for high school accomplishments but also for successes achieved after graduation.
8. Coaches and individuals may be nominated for accomplishments within their sport or contributions made in support of Sparta Athletics.
