Sparta High School Cross Country meet results from G-E-T



The Sparta High School Girls Cross Country Team won their meet Thursday at Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau. The Boys Cross Country Team placed second out of 18 teams.

"I was very proud of our great team effort. Our team members pulled each other along," Coach Jean Roddick said. 

"We had four girls receiving medals for being in the top 12, while two boys brought home some hardware," Roddick said, noting this is the third time the girls have won the G-E-T meet.

Boys Varsity Race
            John Roddick – 8th
            Andrew Ochoa – 12th
            Tristan Zurfluh – 13th
            Austin Feltner – 19th
            Trygve Zurfluh – 24th
            Isaac Pokorny – 33rd
            Israel Wikkerink – 43rd

Boys Varsity Team Scores out of 18 teams
            1 – Mauston 65 points
            2 – Sparta 76 points
            3 – Altoona 101 points
            4 – Blair-Taylor and West Salem tied with 124 points

            Garett Lydon – 44th 
            Jacob Erdman – 67th 

Girls Race
            Jaden Roddick – 4th
            Haley Swanson – 5th
            Paige Nowaczyk – 6th
            Devyn Kenworthy – 10th
            Andrea Pieper – 40th
            Bailey Abbott – 45th
            Brielle Larson  - 49th
            Haley Stark – 69th
            Ashley Boardman – 91st


Girls Team Scores out of 18 Teams
            1 – Sparta 65 points
            2 – Mauston 71 points
            3 – West Salem 77 points
            4 – Viroqua 88 points
            5  Blair-Taylor 111 points


The next meet is Friday, Sept. 14, at River Run Golf Course in Sparta. The boys race starts at 4:30 p.m. and the girls run at 5 p.m.
